THE GRAVE COULD NOT HOLD HIM

Jesus, God’s Son who knew no sin, was crucified between two criminals. As stated in the prophecy of Isaiah chapter 53, God allowed sin to be placed on Him as a guilt offering for the sin of others. The moment Jesus gave up His life for us, the curtain that kept people from entering the Most Holy Place in the temple was split in two. This was to show that when we accept the gift of forgiveness that Jesus offers, we may directly relate to God. Romans 3:28 teaches us that a right relationship with God comes to us as an act of our faith in Jesus not our good deeds.
Though Jesus died and was placed in a tomb, He appeared to some to assure them of the purpose of His life and their need to go and tell others that He died so that all who turn from their sins and believe in Him may have eternal life in God. They were to wait for empowerment from the Holy Spirit and then go forth with this good news. Lifting up His hands, He blessed them and was taken up to heaven where He lives forever. Luke chapter 24
